The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has suspended the food licences of several establishments after inspections uncovered serious hygiene and food-safety violations across the state.

Among those facing action are the Bombay Presidency Radio Club and a McDonald’s outlet in south Mumbai. Inspectors reportedly found flies and cockroaches, poor storage practices and other sanitation concerns. The McDonald’s outlet was also found to have 18 unresolved deficiencies from an earlier inspection.

Other establishments in Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Nashik, Amravati and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar also faced regulatory action. In Pune, a KFC outlet was among five establishments whose licences were suspended over storage-related deficiencies.

At Chhappan Bhog Thali Restaurant and Banquet Hall in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, inspectors reportedly found insect-infested jowar and bajra flour stored for use.

The FDA said the action is part of a wider enforcement campaign aimed at improving food safety and hygiene standards across Maharashtra. Several establishments were issued improvement notices, while licences were suspended where serious violations remained unresolved.
