The Supreme Court on Friday said it will closely monitor the Centre’s efforts to reform the NEET examination system. The court made it clear that switching to computer-based tests alone cannot completely stop paper leaks.
A bench led by Justice P. S. Narasimha and Justice Alok Aradhe heard petitions seeking changes in the National Testing Agency (NTA) after the alleged NEET paper leak controversy.
During the hearing, Justice Narasimha said the court would ensure that the reforms are fully implemented. He added that the monitoring would continue throughout the year to make the system stronger and more reliable.
The judges also asked the Centre how it plans to protect NEET question papers and digital data from security breaches.
The Centre assured the court that it is taking every possible step to improve the examination process. It told the bench that it is going “10 extra miles” to ensure the safety, transparency, and credibility of the NEET exam.
The case comes at a time when protests over paper leaks continue in different parts of the country.
