RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav has come under criticism over his absence during the ongoing protests linked to Jantar Mantar. While several opposition leaders have publicly supported the student movement, Tejashwi has largely stayed away from the issue.
His only public statement came on July 16, when he appealed to activist Sonam Wangchuk to end his hunger strike. Since then, he has not made any major comments on the protests.
During the Monsoon Session of the Bihar Assembly, BJP leaders targeted Tejashwi over his absence. A state minister even urged the Speaker to inform the House about the Leader of Opposition’s whereabouts.
Meanwhile, protests have spread to different parts of Bihar. Demonstrations were reported in Katihar, Darbhanga, and Begusarai. Police used batons to disperse protesters in these districts. Earlier, tear gas was also used during clashes in some areas.
The issue has become a fresh political flashpoint in Bihar. The ruling party and the opposition continue to trade accusations as student protests remain in focus.
