Protests at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar continued on Friday as the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) stepped up its campaign. Party founder Abhijeet Dipke demanded that Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resign within 24 hours. He warned that the protests would grow if the demand was not accepted.
Union Ministers J. P. Nadda and Jitendra Singh met a CJP delegation at the Constitution Club to discuss the issue. The talks came after Prime Minister Narendra Modi released a video message promising a tougher law against paper leaks. He also announced fast-track courts to handle such cases.
Activist Sonam Wangchuk ended his 26-day hunger strike at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram. He did so after requests from leaders across political parties. The Prime Minister wished him a speedy recovery and urged him to follow medical advice.
Meanwhile, Delhi Metro closed 18 stations in Central Delhi due to security arrangements. The CJP also announced nationwide peaceful protests against alleged police brutality while confirming that demonstrations at Jantar Mantar will continue.
