Activist Sonam Wangchuk remains under treatment at Safdarjung Hospital after his prolonged hunger strike. Doctors said he has shown signs of dehydration. According to the hospital, he has refused intravenous fluids, oral rehydration, and medicines despite repeated counselling. An AIIMS doctor has also joined the medical team for continuous monitoring.
On July 20, Wangchuk called for a march to Parliament. He described it as India’s “second freedom movement” in a message shared through his wife. His family has approached the Delhi High Court seeking permission to shift him to a private hospital, saying they have lost faith in the current treatment.
Meanwhile, the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) claimed that 30 to 40 people had entered the protest site to make anti-India remarks and disrupt the demonstration. The party urged supporters to stay alert and reject such individuals.
CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke has also started an indefinite hunger strike. He said the party will continue its planned Parliament march and repeated its demands, including the removal of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Delhi Police said CJP did not receive permission to continue the protest or organise the march, adding that restrictions under Section 163 remain in force in the New Delhi district.
