The winners of the 72nd National Film Awards have been announced, celebrating the best performances and films certified by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) in 2024.

Mammootty won the Best Actor award for his powerful performance in Bramayugam. Kartik Aaryan shared the honour for his role in Chandu Champion. Yami Gautam received the Best Actress award for her performance in Article 370.

The awards were decided by an 11-member jury led by filmmaker Jayaraj. The panel selected winners across several feature film categories after reviewing entries from different Indian film industries.

Malayalam cinema continued its impressive run with Bramayugam earning major recognition. Hindi films such as Article 370, Chandu Champion and Srikanth also featured among the notable contenders.

Tamil cinema was represented by films including Maharaja, Meiyazhagan and Amaran. Telugu releases like Kalki 2898 AD and Lucky Baskhar also received attention during the awards season.

The National Film Awards remain one of India’s highest honours for cinema, recognising excellence in acting, filmmaking and technical achievements across multiple languages and genres.
