ChatGPT faced a temporary service disruption on Tuesday. Many users reported problems while using the AI chatbot. The biggest issue was with image generation. Several users received error messages or experienced long delays.

Outage complaints sharply increased, according to Downdetector. Some users also said they could not access old chats or use features such as Custom GPTs and conversation search. However, basic text conversations continued to work for many people.

OpenAI confirmed the issue on its official status page. The company said it was investigating higher error rates affecting ChatGPT and related services, including Codex, workspace analytics, and Custom GPTs. Later, OpenAI announced that core ChatGPT functions had been restored. Some issues continued in FedRAMP workspaces while engineers worked on a full fix.

Writing, coding, research, and creating images are all common uses for ChatGPT. Even a short outage can affect students, businesses, developers, and content creators. Users continued to share screenshots of failed requests on social media as they waited for the service to return to normal.
