Kalahandi Police have arrested three persons within 24 hours for the alleged murder of BJP leader Fakir Rana in Odisha’s Kalahandi district. Rana was the husband of the Sarpanch of Karlakhunta village under the Madanpur Rampur police station limits.
According to the police, the murder was linked to a long-standing personal enmity between the victim and the accused.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Fakir Rana had an argument with the accused at around 8.30 pm on August 5. The dispute reportedly escalated into a violent assault, during which the three accused allegedly attacked Rana together. He later died from the injuries.
Kalahandi Superintendent of Police Nagaraj Devarakonda said an intensive investigation was launched immediately after police received information about the incident. Considering the seriousness of the case, multiple police teams were formed to conduct raids at different locations.
The coordinated operation led to the arrest of all three accused named in the First Information Report (FIR) within a day of the incident.
Police said the investigation is still underway to determine all the circumstances surrounding the murder. Officials are collecting further evidence and have initiated legal proceedings against the arrested individuals.
The swift arrests highlight the police’s prompt response to the high-profile case. Authorities have assured that the investigation will continue until all aspects of the incident are thoroughly examined and action is taken in accordance with the law.
