The BJP leader removed the designation “National Spokesperson, BJP” from his X profile, prompting discussions about whether he is stepping away from the role. Shehzad began his political journey with the Congress after studying law at the University of Pune. He later became Secretary of the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee before publicly opposing Rahul Gandhi’s elevation as Congress president in 2017, alleging a lack of internal democracy.
In 2018, he joined the BJP and quickly emerged as one of the party’s most recognisable spokespersons. Known for his sharp arguments and detailed preparation, he became a regular face in television debates, defending the BJP on national issues.
