A recent change to Shehzad Poonawalla’s social media profile has sparked speculation about his future in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The BJP leader removed the designation “National Spokesperson, BJP” from his X profile, prompting discussions about whether he is stepping away from the role. However, neither Poonawalla nor the party has issued an official statement.

Shehzad began his political journey with the Congress after studying law at the University of Pune. He later became Secretary of the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee before publicly opposing Rahul Gandhi’s elevation as Congress president in 2017, alleging a lack of internal democracy.

In 2018, he joined the BJP and quickly emerged as one of the party’s most recognisable spokespersons. Known for his sharp arguments and detailed preparation, he became a regular face in television debates, defending the BJP on national issues.

Over the years, Poonawalla built a reputation for combining political facts with quick responses and strong communication skills. His appearances in high-profile debates made him one of the party’s prominent public voices.

While his recent profile update has fuelled speculation, there is no official confirmation about any change in his political role. Until then, the discussion remains centred on social media activity rather than any formal announcement.
