Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s new Satyagraha platform has brought a growing friction with the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) into sharper focus.
Rahul launched the digital initiative on October 3, calling for different struggles across the country to come together. He said he would support such movements through Parliament, protests and other platforms.
The move comes amid a public exchange between Congress supporters and CJP leaders Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das. While the CJP leaders did not name Congress directly, their remarks about a “self-declared liberal ecosystem” were interpreted by several Congress members as criticism of their party.
The dispute reflects a wider competition over space and leadership in protests against the BJP-led government and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
The tension had surfaced earlier during the CJP’s school inspection campaign in Assam. Congress leaders claimed they helped secure the release of detained CJP volunteers, while also alleging links between the group and the Aam Aadmi Party.
Meanwhile, Rahul’s platform has received nearly 29,000 submissions from across India, with education, corruption and caste discrimination among the leading concerns.
The CJP, meanwhile, continues to project itself as an independent youth-led movement, adding another layer to the Opposition’s increasingly crowded protest space.
