Patna: Jan Suraaj Party leader Prashant Kishor has announced a major employment initiative for youths in Bihar’s Bankipur constituency. Days after winning the Assembly bypoll, Kishor said he wants to help at least 10,000 families find private-sector jobs for their children within the next one to two years.

During his first visit to Bankipur after the August 3 bypoll victory, Kishor asked families to submit the CVs and biodata of educated but unemployed youths to his office. He said he would use his network of companies and professionals across the country to connect eligible candidates with job opportunities.

Kishor clarified that he cannot promise government jobs. He also said some youths may initially need to move outside Bihar for employment.

He said the situation could change if the Jan Suraaj Party forms the government in Bihar. In that case, his focus would be on creating more jobs within the state.

Kishor defeated BJP candidate Neeraj Kumar Sinha by 19,324 votes. He secured 64,151 votes, while Sinha received 44,827 votes. RJD candidate Rekha Gupta stood third with 14,273 votes.

The result ended the BJP’s 30-year hold over Bankipur.

Apart from employment, Kishor has identified education, a monthly pension of ₹1,100 and food grains as his other key priorities. He has also promised visible improvements in the constituency within the next few months.
