New Delhi: Delhi Police have released a video showing Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke being informed about his grandmother’s death while in detention. The video comes amid allegations that he was denied an opportunity to contact his family.
Police said they offered to help Dipke communicate with his relatives and arrange travel following the news. Neha Yadav, a police PRO and deputy commissioner of police, stated that he was frequently offered help by policemen.
In the video, an officer asks Dipke whether he would prefer to travel by plane, train, bus, or another mode. The officer also offers to help him speak to his father. Dipke responds that he would not be able to speak to him at that moment.
The video was released to counter claims that Dipke was prevented from contacting his family after learning of his grandmother’s death.
Yadav further alleged that the CJP had violated conditions imposed during an earlier protest permission. She said this was the reason permission for the latest protest was denied.
The matter remains under development, and further details are awaited.
