Glasgow: India continued its impressive run at the Commonwealth Games 2026 with another successful day in the boxing arena, highlighted by Sachin’s thrilling comeback victory to win the men’s 60kg gold medal. The Indian boxer fought back brilliantly after a slow start, adding another gold to the country’s growing medal tally.
India also celebrated gold medals from Priya and Arundhati Choudhary, who produced dominant performances in their respective boxing finals to emerge as Commonwealth champions.
However, the day brought disappointment for Olympic medallist Lovlina Borgohain, who narrowly missed out on gold in the women’s 75kg final. Lovlina suffered a 4-1 split-decision defeat, settling for the silver medal after a closely contested bout.
Apart from boxing, Indian athletes remain in contention across several disciplines, including athletics, judo, lawn bowls and track cycling. Distance runner Gulveer Singh will compete in the men’s 5,000m final, while India’s mixed 4x400m relay team is also aiming for a podium finish.
In lawn bowls, Nayanmoni Saikia continues her campaign in the women’s singles event, while the men’s pairs team of Navneet Singh and Dinesh Kumar is fighting for a place in the final. Judoka Karanjit Singh Maan is also in medal contention in the men’s 90kg category, with India’s cyclists and pole vaulters scheduled to compete later in the day.
With multiple events still underway, India looks set to further strengthen its medal tally as athletes continue their pursuit of podium finishes in Glasgow.
