Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday transferred more than ₹833 crore to the bank accounts of over 41.49 lakh farmers and landless agricultural families under the fifth instalment of the CM-KISAN scheme.
The assistance was transferred through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) during a state-level programme at the Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT). The beneficiaries included over 41.35 lakh small and marginal farmers and nearly 14,000 landless agricultural families.
The financial support is expected to help farmers purchase seeds, fertilisers and pesticides for the upcoming 2026-27 rabi season.
Majhi also announced a ₹1,000-crore assistance package for farmers affected by recent floods in six districts. Compensation will be provided after field-level assessments of crop damage.
The Chief Minister said the government remains focused on increasing farmers’ incomes through initiatives such as the Samruddha Krushak Yojana, allied agricultural activities and financial support schemes.
He also urged farmers to register their land details in the Farmers Registry to ensure easier access to government benefits.
