President Droupadi Murmu has appointed Braj Mohan Ram as the new Governor of Odisha, replacing Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati. The announcement was made through a Rashtrapati Bhavan communiqué on October 12, 2026.
Ram, a former Lok Sabha member from Palamu in Jharkhand, will assume office on the date he formally takes charge.
The appointment is part of a series of gubernatorial changes announced across six states. Kambhampati took over as Odisha Governor in January 2025.
Ram has a background in legislative and organisational work. He represented Palamu in the Lok Sabha three times, winning elections in 1996, 1998 and 1999.
His appointment marks a change in leadership at Odisha’s Raj Bhavan. The transition will become effective once he formally assumes charge of the constitutional office.
