New Delhi: India captain Suryakumar Yadav has surged back into the top 10 of the ICC Men’s T20I Batting Rankings, climbing five places to secure the seventh position in the latest rankings released on Wednesday. His rise comes after a string of impactful performances in the ongoing five-match T20I series against New Zealand, where India currently hold a commanding 3–0 lead.
The Indian skipper, who had been enduring a lean patch in the shortest format, bounced back in style with a match-winning 82-run knock in the second T20I, ending a 468-day half-century drought. He carried the momentum into the third match, smashing 57 runs off just 26 balls in a blistering display.
India’s young opener Abhishek Sharma continues to dominate the T20I batting charts. His explosive 68-run innings in the third match strengthened his hold at the top, taking his tally to 929 rating points, 80 points clear of the next batter.
In the bowling rankings, India’s pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah made notable progress, jumping four spots to reach 13th position after claiming three wickets in the third T20I. Mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy maintained his place at the top of the bowlers’ rankings following another impressive outing against New Zealand.
Among all-rounders, Hardik Pandya moved up one spot to third, while Shivam Dube made a significant leap of five places to be ranked 11th, thanks to consistent performances in the series.
New Zealand’s Glenn Phillips registered one of the biggest gains among batters, climbing 18 places after solid contributions against India. South Africa’s captain Aiden Markram and West Indies power-hitter Brandon King also made upward moves in the rankings.
In the bowling department, Afghanistan’s Mujeeb Ur Rahman, South Africa’s Corbin Bosch, and West Indies pacer Matthew Forde all recorded notable jumps.
Meanwhile, in ODI rankings, England’s batting pair Harry Brook and Joe Root rose in the charts after guiding their side to a series win over Sri Lanka. Brook advanced to 11th place, while Root climbed six spots to 17th among ODI batters.
The latest rankings highlight India’s strong form in the T20 format as they continue building momentum on the international stage.
