Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has announced his marriage to journalist Nidhi Razdan through social media, sharing the news with followers on Saturday.

Abdullah posted a photograph with Razdan on Instagram, captioning it, “A new journey began yesterday”. Razdan also confirmed the wedding through a post on X, writing, “It’s done, bro”.

The announcement comes three months after the Supreme Court agreed to dissolve Abdullah’s marriage to his estranged wife, Payal Abdullah, through mutual consent.

On July 31, 2026, the court was informed that both parties had agreed to end their marriage and resolve their pending disputes. They also agreed to withdraw cases filed against each other.

Omar Abdullah had approached the Supreme Court after the Delhi High Court rejected his divorce plea. The couple subsequently sought dissolution of their marriage under Article 142 of the Constitution.

Omar Abdullah and Payal married in 1994 and have two sons, Zahir and Zamir. They had reportedly been living separately since 2009, with their separation becoming public in 2011.

The latest announcement marks a new chapter in the Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister’s personal life.
