Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday inaugurated the redeveloped Kalinga Studio in Bhubaneswar, calling it an important step towards strengthening Odisha’s film industry and preserving its cinematic heritage.

The modernised facility has been developed as a complete film production hub. It includes indoor shooting floors, a snow house, chroma floor and tech zone, along with facilities for sound recording, dubbing, editing and post-production.

Majhi said Odia filmmakers would no longer have to depend on other states for advanced technical facilities. He added that more infrastructure would be introduced at the studio in the future.

The Chief Minister also inaugurated an archive and museum dedicated to preserving Odisha’s cinema history. It will house old films, posters, photographs and important documents.

Kalinga Studio was established in 1980 but required redevelopment due to natural disasters and rapid technological changes.

Majhi urged young filmmakers to use the upgraded facility to tell stories based on Odisha’s history, folklore and cultural traditions.

Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swain said the studio could become a major economic ecosystem, creating employment and supporting growth.

Majhi also launched the new official portal of the Odisha Film Development Corporation.
