India retained the men’s cricket gold medal at the Asian Games after overcoming Pakistan by 19 runs in a high-scoring final in Nagoya.

On a difficult surface, India scored 211/6 when batting first. Abhishek Sharma provided the early impetus with an explosive 61 from 28 deliveries, attacking Pakistan’s spinners from the outset. After India lost wickets during the middle overs, Tilak Varma took charge, smashing an unbeaten 51 from just 22 balls. Shivam Dube also contributed a brisk 27, helping India finish strongly.

Pakistan’s chase began poorly as India’s bowlers claimed three early wickets. Hasan Nawaz and Saim Ayub then revived Pakistan’s hopes with an important partnership. Nawaz produced a remarkable 96, keeping his team in contention until the closing stages.

India, however, maintained control under pressure. Jasprit Bumrah’s economical spell restricted Pakistan at a crucial stage, while Shivam Dube dismissed Ayub to further shift the momentum.

Pakistan eventually finished on 192/6, falling 20 runs short of the target. India’s combination of aggressive batting, timely wickets and disciplined bowling secured another Asian Games cricket gold medal.
