Gurugram: Kalyan Bainsla, accused of hitting a woman biker with his car on Gurugram’s Golf Course Road, allegedly tried to escape after his arrest in Rajasthan by asking to step away to urinate, police said.
Bainsla, 33, was arrested in Rajasthan’s Dausa district on September 15 after police teams tracked him following the crash. During the attempt to flee, he reportedly fell and suffered minor injuries before receiving treatment at a hospital.
Police said CCTV footage led them to add Section 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), relating to attempt to murder. Investigators also added provisions concerning stalking and insulting a woman’s modesty after recording the survivor’s statement.
According to police, Bainsla allegedly made indecent remarks at the woman before the collision and then fled the scene. He had switched off his mobile phone after speaking to media outlets about the incident.
Police have recovered the car allegedly involved in the crash and detained another person who was reportedly with Bainsla. His role is being examined as the investigation continues.
