Violence intensified in Pakistan’s Balochistan province after the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) claimed that it had killed 25 Pakistani military personnel in two separate attacks.
The group alleged that 18 personnel were killed during an ambush on a military convoy near Ziarat Cross, while another attack in Surab reportedly killed seven soldiers. The claims could not be independently verified, and Pakistani authorities did not immediately confirm the reported casualties.
The BLA also released a video purportedly showing the aftermath of the attacks, including damaged military vehicles and armed fighters.
Following the incidents, Pakistan’s military launched large-scale operations across several districts of Balochistan. Security forces claimed to have killed 48 suspected militants during raids in Mastung, Sibi, Quetta and Kalat.
The latest exchange highlights the continuing unrest in Balochistan, where separatist groups have increased attacks on security forces and military installations in recent months.
The province has faced a long-running insurgency, with Baloch separatist groups demanding greater autonomy or independence. The fresh violence has further raised concerns about worsening security conditions in Pakistan’s largest province.
