Paradip: Senior Indian Railway Service of Electrical Engineers (IRSEE) officer Shri Susanta Kumar Purohit has assumed additional charge as Chairperson of the Paradip Port Authority (PPA), as directed by the Indian government’s Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways.
A 1996-batch officer, Purohit is currently serving as Chairperson of the V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority. He brings extensive experience in administration, engineering, infrastructure development, policy formulation and public-sector management.
Before his present assignment, he served as Joint Secretary in the Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals. He has also held important positions in Indian Railways, the Ministry of Power and the Government of Odisha.
In his additional role at PPA, Purohit is expected to focus on strengthening port infrastructure and connectivity, improving operational efficiency, modernising cargo-handling facilities and promoting sustainable, green port initiatives.
His leadership is expected to further support Paradip Port’s growth and India’s broader maritime development goals under the vision of Viksit Bharat.
