Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida inaugurated the Shakti Summit in Bhubaneswar, bringing together senior officials from 22 States and Union Territories to discuss women’s safety, protection and empowerment.
Addressing the inaugural session, Parida stressed the need for a united approach, strong institutions and effective implementation. She said women’s safety and empowerment must go hand in hand to ensure dignity, security and equal opportunities for every woman.
The summit has been organised by the National Commission for Women (NCW) in collaboration with the Odisha government. It aims to promote the exchange of successful practices, identify gaps and develop practical strategies for improving institutional support for women.
NCW Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar highlighted the importance of continued cooperation and stronger systems to address issues related to women’s welfare.
The inaugural session was attended by NCW Member Secretary Sudeep Jain, W&CD Department Commissioner-cum-Secretary Dr Mrinalini Darswal and Mission Shakti Secretary Manasi Nimbhal.
A total of 29 senior officers from 22 States and Union Territories participated in the summit.
