New Delhi/Bhubaneswar: Before the publication of the fifth installment of the SUBHADRA scheme, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Odisha Deputy Chief Minister and Women & Child Development Minister Pravati Parida in New Delhi on Tuesday.
During the meeting, Parida briefed the Prime Minister on preparations for the disbursement scheduled for August 28, 2026, on the occasion of Rakhi Purnima. The instalment will be released from Nayagarh in Odisha.
Under the fifth instalment, each eligible beneficiary will receive Rs 5,000 through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). As per the latest preparations, 1,03,26,162 eligible women are set to receive the assistance, involving a total transfer of more than Rs 5,160 crore.
Parida apprised Modi of measures being taken to ensure smooth and timely payments. These include beneficiary verification, e-KYC, Aadhaar-linked bank accounts, NPCI mapping and other banking arrangements.
The Deputy Chief Minister also highlighted the role of SUBHADRA in promoting women’s economic empowerment and financial inclusion across Odisha.
Prime Minister Modi launched the SUBHADRA scheme in Bhubaneswar on September 17, 2024. The Odisha government’s flagship women-centric programme provides eligible women with Rs 50,000 over five years, with Rs 10,000 disbursed annually in two instalments of Rs 5,000 each through DBT.
The release of the fifth instalment marks another milestone in the implementation of the scheme and the state government’s efforts to strengthen women’s financial independence.
