The Odisha Legislative Assembly’s Monsoon Session is set to start on September 22 and last through October 3. The session will consist of nine working days, one holiday, and two days without meetings, according to the official timetable.
During the session, a number of important legislative and administrative issues are anticipated to be discussed.
The MMDR problem will probably be brought up frequently by the opposition. Opposition parties had earlier sought a special session to debate the matter and are expected to question the government over its position.
Flood management is also likely to be a major concern, with the Opposition expected to seek answers on the state government’s response to the recent flood situation.
The controversy surrounding errors in school textbooks and delays in distributing books could also come up during the session.
Other issues likely to receive attention include the ongoing teachers’ protest, student elections in higher educational institutions and concerns raised by farmers.
The ruling party has stated that it is prepared to answer inquiries and defend the government’s stance in the Assembly, while the opposition is getting ready to bring up these topics.
