Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday said empathy, compassion and sensitivity are central to good governance, stressing that resolving people’s problems remains a top priority of his government.
Speaking after the 20th state-level grievance hearing at the Chief Minister’s Grievance Hearing Cell in Unit-2, Majhi said the government would continue to stand with people during both difficult and happy times.
He personally heard grievances during the programme, where more than 600 petitions were received through online and offline channels. He also met differently-abled people and those suffering from serious illnesses and directed officials to take prompt action.
The Chief Minister sanctioned Rs 14.50 lakh in medical assistance through the Single Window System for 16 seriously ill people.
According to the government, 14,519 of the 15,327 grievances received during the previous 19 state-level hearings have been resolved, achieving a 95 per cent disposal rate.
At the district level, 2,69,394 grievances had been heard by the end of July, with 87 per cent resolved. Majhi said stronger grievance redressal at the local level would reduce public inconvenience and strengthen people’s trust in the administration.
Ten senior ministers and several senior officials attended Monday’s hearing.
