India has strongly condemned Pakistan’s recent air strikes on Afghanistan, calling them a serious violation of Afghan sovereignty and a threat to regional peace. In a statement issued on Monday, the Ministry of External Affairs said the attacks amounted to an act of aggression and expressed concern over reports of civilian casualties.
According to Afghan authorities, the strikes killed at least 36 civilians, including women and children, and injured more than 160 people. Kabul accused Pakistan of targeting residential areas and rejected Islamabad’s claim that the operation was aimed at militant hideouts.
Pakistan said its forces carried out intelligence-based operations against alleged bases of Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Jamaat-ul-Ahrar near the border.
India also accused Pakistan of trying to shift attention from its internal security challenges through cross-border military action. New Delhi extended condolences to the families of those killed and reaffirmed its support for Afghanistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The incident has further increased tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan, with both sides offering conflicting accounts of the operation.
