An Air India flight from Phuket to Delhi faced severe turbulence on Tuesday, leaving 17 people injured, including four cabin crew members. The aircraft landed safely in Delhi, but passengers described the experience as one of the most frightening moments of their lives.
According to passengers, the turbulence struck suddenly, causing people who were not wearing seatbelts to be thrown into the air. Overhead luggage compartments were damaged, and bags fell into the cabin, leading to panic and injuries. Cabin crew repeatedly urged passengers to fasten their seatbelts while working to maintain order.
Several passengers, including children, suffered minor head and body injuries. Seven passengers were taken to Fortis Hospital in Delhi for medical evaluation, where doctors carried out scans and provided treatment. Most injuries were reported to be non-life-threatening.
Passengers praised the flight crew and pilots for handling the emergency calmly and ensuring a safe landing. The incident has once again highlighted the importance of wearing seatbelts throughout a flight, even when the seatbelt sign is switched off.
