New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said the West Bengal government aims to ensure that every eligible woman receives the benefits of the Annapurna Yojana.
Addressing an Annapurna Divas programme through video conferencing, Modi said around 1.5 crore women were receiving the scheme’s fourth instalment of ₹3,000. The assistance is transferred directly to beneficiaries’ bank accounts.
According to the West Bengal government, the scheme provides ₹3,000 per month to eligible women aged 25 to 60, subject to specified conditions.
Modi said the direct transfer system eliminates intermediaries and provides women with financial support for essential household needs. He added that reducing financial pressures could strengthen their confidence and role in family decisions.
The Prime Minister said the government was working to ensure that no eligible woman was left out of the scheme.
He described Annapurna Yojana as an initiative aimed at strengthening women’s financial support and decision-making power in Bengal.
