Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi reviewed the ongoing redevelopment of SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack and directed officials to speed up key construction works.
The meeting focused on four new clinical blocks, a residential block and a Multi-Level Car Parking (MLCP) facility. Officials said the residential block is nearly complete, while the clinical blocks are expected to be completed by June next year.
Majhi also directed officials to prepare a proposal for another Medicine department block after identifying a suitable site.
The Chief Minister stressed that the MLCP should be completed on time to reduce traffic and parking problems for patients, attendants and doctors. He also ordered faster work on the traffic corridor along the Taladanda Canal, including wider roads and beautification.
Officials said the parking facility will also benefit people visiting the nearby Acharya Harihar Cancer Institute. Development plans for nearby institutions, including Bose Engineering School, Biju Patnaik Film and Television Institute and Odisha State Maritime Museum, are being coordinated with the project.
The meeting also reviewed the development of Hanuman Vatika in Rourkela. Majhi directed officials to speed up spiritual and infrastructure projects while preserving the area’s natural environment and religious importance. A detailed plan for external beautification, wider pathways and lighting will also be prepared.
