Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay has announced a new support package for state MLAs, including new cars for constituency travel, along with financial assistance for drivers and office staff.
Speaking in the Legislative Assembly, Vijay said MLAs need proper transport facilities to regularly visit their constituencies and address public concerns. Under the announcement, each MLA will receive ₹75,000 per month for driver salary and car-related expenses, while ₹25,000 per month will be provided to hire an office assistant.
The announcement followed a request from VCK MLA Jothimani, who highlighted the need for better logistical support for legislators.
The government also announced a major healthcare investment of ₹351 crore to create 6,098 additional seats across medical, nursing and paramedical courses. Seven new government nursing colleges will also be established.
In another major announcement, a 400-bed multi-speciality hospital will be built in Perambalur at an estimated cost of ₹300 crore.
The government has also proposed increasing the annual coverage under the Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme from ₹5 lakh to ₹25 lakh, along with additional healthcare services for transgender persons.
