Karnataka’s intensified food safety drive has uncovered several violations at hotels, restaurants and food facilities across the state, with expired and unsafe products seized during inspections.
In Mysuru, officials recovered 9 kg of expired chicken from Rio Meridian Hotel and 68 kg of meat from Grand Mercure Hotel. Another 4 kg of mushrooms were seized from Q Star Hotel. Inspections in Mysuru and Nanjangud also resulted in notices to three resorts, while several food samples were collected for laboratory testing.
A KFC outlet at City Centre on K.S. Rao Road in Mangaluru was also inspected after a customer complained that a Chicken Peri Peri Leg ordered online tasted stale. Officials checked the outlet’s kitchen, storage areas, freezers and food stocks.
The statewide campaign has reportedly resulted in the seizure of more than 1,000 kg of unsafe food. Authorities said inspections will continue to ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations.
