Union Minister and BJP president JP Nadda on Monday accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of misleading people over the student protests in Delhi and disrupting Parliament proceedings.
Nadda strongly denied allegations that police opened fire on protesting students at Jantar Mantar. He called the claim false and said the government was ready to discuss the issue in Parliament.
“There was no firing at Jantar Mantar,” Nadda said, accusing the Congress of creating confusion over the protests.
‘Why Avoid the Discussion?’
Nadda questioned why the Opposition was refusing to participate in a debate when Union Home Minister Amit Shah was ready to respond.
He alleged that Rahul Gandhi was changing his demands and that the Opposition was more interested in confrontation than discussion.
Nadda also accused Opposition MPs of disrupting Parliament for around 15 days and said their actions were preventing the House from functioning normally.
Government Says It Is Ready
According to Nadda, the government has agreed to discuss issues raised by the Opposition, including the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, inflation and developments related to the Jantar Mantar protests.
He said the government was prepared to provide answers on these matters.
Attack Over Jharkhand Protests
Nadda also targeted Gandhi over the recent student protests in Jharkhand. He questioned Gandhi’s response to the police action against job aspirants protesting recruitment-related issues.
Nadda pointed out that Congress is part of the ruling alliance in Jharkhand and accused the party of following different standards in Delhi and Jharkhand.
He alleged that the Congress was using “negative politics” and creating confrontation instead of supporting constructive debate.
The remarks came amid an ongoing political standoff in Parliament over the Opposition’s demands for answers from the government.
