Bhubaneswar: Odisha Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari on Saturday said there was no need to panic over the latest rainfall. He said the situation across the state remained under control.
Several areas received heavy rain in the morning. Kendrapada in Nayagarh recorded the highest rainfall of 137 mm around 8.30 am. Kuchinda recorded 115 mm, while Kendrapada received 110 mm.
Pujari said the rain had not created any immediate threat. However, he urged people to remain cautious in areas still recovering from recent floods.
He said major rivers, including the Mahanadi, Brahmani, Baitarani, Budhabalanga and Subarnarekha, were below warning levels. Water levels in several rivers were also declining.
Officials from the disaster management, water resources and meteorological departments are monitoring the situation regularly.
The minister said relief work was continuing in affected areas. ODRAF, NDRF, Fire Services and other emergency teams have also been kept ready.
Pujari urged people to follow official advisories and contact local authorities during emergencies. He assured residents that the government was prepared to handle any untoward situation.
