The India Meteorological Centre (IMD), Bhubaneswar, has issued a Nowcast warning predicting light to moderate rain, lightning, and thunderstorms in parts of Odisha over the next three hours.

According to the Yellow Message issued on Wednesday, weather activity is expected at one or two places in eight districts — Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Gajapati, Koraput, Rayagada, Angul, and Cuttack, including Cuttack city.

The weather department has advised residents of the affected districts to remain alert and take necessary precautions. People have been asked to monitor weather updates and avoid moving through open areas during thunderstorms.

Officials warned that lightning activity could increase during the period and advised citizens to take shelter in safe places whenever thunderstorm conditions occur.

The alert will remain valid for three hours from the time of issuance. Residents have been urged to follow safety guidelines to reduce risks during sudden weather changes.
