Veteran actor Pradeep Rawat, celebrated for his memorable performances in films such as Lagaan and Ghajini, passed away at the age of 74 after battling cancer. His manager confirmed that the illness had relapsed, and the actor died following more than a month of treatment in hospital.
The news was shared by actor Yashpal Sharma, who paid an emotional tribute to his longtime colleague on social media.
Rawat is survived by his wife and son, Vikramaditya.
With a career spanning over four decades, Rawat made a lasting mark across Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and Nepali cinema. He first gained widespread recognition for portraying Ashwatthama in B.R. Chopra’s television epic Mahabharat before establishing himself as one of Indian cinema’s most respected character actors.
Known for his commanding screen presence, Rawat excelled in portraying powerful antagonists. Alongside acclaimed roles in Lagaan and Ghajini, he delivered notable performances in films such as Sye, Rowdy Rathore, and several Telugu blockbusters.
