Bhubaneswar: Odisha Police on Monday felicitated 12 of its sportspersons for their outstanding performances in national-level competitions across Wushu, Taekwondo, Karate, and Pencak Silat.
The ceremony, held at the Commissionerate Police Headquarters in Bhubaneswar, saw Director General of Police Yogesh Bahadur Khurania honour the athletes for winning medals at the 11th All India Police Judo Cluster (2026-27) in Hyderabad and the 5th Senior National India Taekwondo Poomsae Championship 2026 in Pune.
Congratulating the athletes, the DGP praised their dedication, discipline, and teamwork, stating that their achievements had brought pride to both Odisha Police and the state. As part of the recognition, silver medallists received Rs 4,000 each, while bronze medallists were awarded Rs 3,000.
Among the standout performers were Saswati Nayak, who won a silver medal in the Judo Cluster and a bronze in the Taekwondo Championship; Satyaprakash Mohanty, who secured two bronze medals; and Bratati Biswaprava Pati, who claimed silver and bronze medals in individual and team Karate events.
Senior police officers also attended the ceremony and encouraged the athletes to continue achieving success at future competitions.
